Need To Know Updates

Several states shared information over the past few weeks concerning permitting systems, office availability times, and much more. Below is a quick overview of information carriers need to know.

  • Alaska launched AK SWOOP on 9/30/2024!
    • Permits that require office review are estimated to be issued within 24hrs.
    • Superloads (greater than 150’L, 18’H, 18’w, or 250k) are estimated to be issued with 5 working days.
    • Self-Issue limits for single trip permits are up to 100’L, 16’H, 12’W, 125% Weight, 53’ Trailer, 10’ Overhang.
    • Self-Issue limits for extended permits are up to 85’L, Legal Height, 10’6”W, 125% Weight, 53’ Trailer, 10’ Overhang.

 

  • The Colorado Permitting Office will be closed 10/7/2024 in observance of Frances Xavier Cabrini Day.

 

  • On May 10th we released an Industry Update (read article here) on our website that included information on the upcoming release of ORION, Oregon’s new permitting system. Oregon has announced they have further narrowed down their launch date to May 2025.

 

  • The Texas Permitting Office Texas Permitting Office call center will be open from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday starting Monday 10/14/24.

 

  • Wyoming launched their new online system (read article here) on Tuesday. From an external 3rd party user perspective the launch was successful.

 

  • Wyoming also held a public hearing for public comments on Motor Carrier Section, Chapter 5, Size and Weight Limitations of Vehicles. Several members of the industry spoke on the need for clarification of verbiage on permits and uniformity with bordering states. The panel heard comments from attorneys, association representatives, and carriers.
