28 Oct West Virginia Prepares to Launch New ProMiles System
The industry has been abuzz since news broke that West Virginia is updating its online permitting system. With October drawing to a close, Permit America reached out to the state’s permit office for an update on the rollout.
Inside the Transition: What We Learned from DJ
DJ, one of the two current staff members in the West Virginia permit office, confirmed the change is underway:
“Yes indeed, we are VERY happy to announce we are going to ProMiles. It was scheduled to kick off this month; however, as time does fly by, we’re not yet properly prepared for this to take place. So in the meantime, we are still on Gotpermits.”
Training Timeline and Revised Launch Date
DJ shared insight into the internal preparations and the updated go-live estimate:
“Lee is in the process of training for it. Once he’s done, it’ll be my turn. After we’re both up to speed, we’ll train the new hires. As this ‘motion starts,’ I’d say we’re looking at around the first of the year, to be quite honest.”
What to Expect During the Transition
When asked about the transition process, DJ emphasized that it won’t be a quick switch:
“Obviously we’ll have to use both systems while the transition takes place. It won’t be a fast process like a ‘band-aid getting pulled,’ by no means. Lee and I don’t want to leave a lot of room for error or issues—or worse—to happen.”
Industry Notification Coming Soon
DJ also noted that a mass notification will be sent out to the industry with more details as the launch date approaches.
Permit America remains committed to staying in close contact with West Virginia throughout the transition and will continue to keep the industry informed as updates become available.
